Operation Green Light

During Operation Green Light, eligible Pinellas County customers with suspended driver licenses will be able to pay overdue court and traffic fines, and save up to 25% on collections fees.

This initiative aims to help thousands of individuals with Pinellas County cases looking to save on fees, inquire about a payment plan, and have their license reinstated.

WHERE: Pinellas County Justice Center, 14250 49th Street North, 2nd Floor, Clearwater, FL 33762

WHEN:

  • Wednesday, October 16, 2019: 8:30 am – 7:00 pm
  • Thursday, October 17, 2019: 8:30 am – 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, October 19, 2019: 8:30 am – 2:30 pm

WHO: Individuals with Pinellas County cases looking to save on fees, inquire about a payment plan, and have their driver license reinstated.

Those who pay their debts, or go on a monthly payment plan, will also be able to reinstate their suspended driver license in most cases. While customers will save on collections fees, a down payment is required for a payment plan and reinstatement fees are applicable. No appointment or registration is necessary.

Cash, check, money order and credit/debit card payments will be accepted. A 3.5% convenience fee will be applied to all credit/debit card payments. Payments for all Pinellas County traffic tickets and court fines will be accepted. 

The event will not address the following items as they require court action:

  • Reduction or waiver of court imposed fees
  • Grant or reinstate community service hours
  • Recalling of warrants
  • Termination of probation
  • Amending statute to lesser charge
  • Waiver of court ordered school
  • Setting aside defensive driving course school election

The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles will be on site with their Florida Licensing On Wheels, or FLOW, vehicle to print new licenses on Wednesday & Thursday, October 16 & 17 from 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Customers with driver licenses suspended due to revocation for failure to pay child support, DUI, failure to complete a driver’s course ordered by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), traffic related felony, or deemed by FLHSMV as a habitual traffic offender may not be eligible to participate.

FAQs

You may be eligible if your driver license has been suspended due to failure to pay court fines, tickets or other costs in Pinellas County.

You may not be eligible if your driver license is suspended due to revocation for failure to pay child support, DUI, failure to complete a driver’s course ordered by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), traffic related felony, or deemed by FLHSMV as a habitual traffic offender.

To check the status of your driving record, visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website to see the offenses which are affecting your driver license.

Florida law requires Clerk's offices to turn over unpaid tickets and other outstanding court fines and fees to an outside collection agency if the debt is not paid within 90 days of the due date.

Only those with overdue cases that have been turned over to a collection agency will save on collection surcharges during Operation Green Light. Collection agency surcharges will be waived for:

  • Overdue traffic tickets issued in Pinellas County.
  • Overdue criminal court obligations in Pinellas County.

You will be required to pay any late fees that are associated with your case(s). The cost is $23 or $32 for each case, depending on your offense. If you chose to go on a payment plan, an administrative fee of $25 will be charged for each payment plan you enter. There is a $60 fee when reinstating your license (if applicable). If you use a credit/debit card as your choice of payment, you will be charged a 3.5% convenience fee for each transaction.

Yes, payment plans are being offered in person only. An administration fee of $25 will be assessed for each payment plan. The length of your payment plan will depend on the outstanding financial obligation on each case. Payment plans are available for 3, 6 and 12 months.

Community service will not be granted at this event as it is a matter that must be addressed by the court.

In most cases, those who pay their debts or go on a monthly payment plan will be able to reinstate their suspended driver license.
